# Generations - Adam to Abraham
---
---
## Background
---
- A few days ago on 2023.07.18, I wrote a note on generations. As I was editing the note, I felt like I had been rambling in a direction that was distracting. So, I decided to move some of the stuff to this note.

## Notes
---
- There are several chapters in the Bible that list genealogies and some of them provide birth and death information. It is tedious, but not difficult to extract the genealogical information for analysis. Thankfully someone else has done that and put in a large circular chart, [World History Chart](https://amazingbibletimeline.com). I have a copy hanging in my office. Among other things, all of the information on the chart is cross referenced to passages in the Bible.
- Some germane observations:
- [[Noah]] lived 950 years
- [[Adam]] & [[Eve]] [[Die|died]] 120 years before Noah was [[Born]]
- Seth, (their son) died just 14 year before Noah was born
- Enos, Seth's son lived for 84 years after Noah was born
- Any information Noah had about Adam and Eve's experience in the Garden of Eden and afterward was only two generations old
- Cainan ,Enos' son lived for 179 years after Noah was born
- Mahalaleel, Cainan' son lived for 234 years after Noah was born
- Jared, Mahalaleel's son lived for 366 years after Noah was born
- Enoch ,Jared's son was taken up to heaven 69 years before Noah was born
- Methuselah, Enoch's son died 600 years after Noah was born, not long before the great flood
- Lamech, Methuselah's son died 575 years after Noah was born, not long before the great flood
- Although Noah missed out on the first two generations, he spent many years with six of the previous generations.
- Although Seth, Noah's son died before [[Abraham]] was born, Terah, Abraham's [[Father]] had a chance to spend many years with him and seven other generations.
- Side note, the names mentioned above are just the key players in the story. It is reasonable to assume that there were many others in the family tree that probably passed information from generation to generation.
