# Church Assessment - Sardis ## Question: What sort of consequences do you think await your church? How about the American church? --- ### Background - In my note [[1627598467_Church_Assessment|Biblical Assessment of the Seven Churches]], I discussed a pattern I discovered in Jesus' [[Assessment]] of the [[Seven]] churches in **Revelation 2-3**. - This assessment of the [[Church]] in [[Sardis]] is derived from the Berean Study Bible (BSB), [[Revelation_02|Revelation 3.1-6]]. --- - **Authority Of The Assessor** - These are the words of the One who holds the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. {3.1} - **Acknowledgment of some good things** - But you do have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments {3.4} - They are worthy {3.4} - **Condemnation of some negative things** - I know your deeds; you have a reputation for being alive, yet you are dead {3.2} - I have found your deeds incomplete in the sight of My God {3.2} - **Plan of action** - Wake up and strengthen what remains, which was about to die {3.2} - Remember, then, what you have received and heard.
