# Science is NOT Truth! ## Random Thoughts on Science --- ## What is "science?" Case in point, the photo below was taken at an airport newsstand / book store. Apparently, the owner connected "science" with the new age "religion". ![[science_new_age.jpg]] Science has become politicized Science has become an idol --- ## Science is NOT truth The tl;dr: Science is the pursuit of truth, NOT truth itself! Because we are finite, we regularly change our models of "truth". Which from a pure true scientific method is part of the process. Each "model" scientists create is a "guess" at the truth. The scientific process calls those "guesses" hypothesis or theories. However, because of the politicization of science, each "model", hypothesis or theory becomes "fact" / "truth". As a result, "facts" are constantly changing. For anyone interesting in "truth" it is unacceptable for "facts" to change. Sadly, if "scientists" would admit that the paper they published was at best a "good guess" at "truth", they would lose their funding. ## Scientific Method According to Wikipedia, the scientific method is defined as: - The scientific method is an empirical method of acquiring knowledge that has characterized the development of science since at least the 17th century (with notable practitioners in previous centuries). It involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed, given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation. It involves formulating hypotheses, via induction, based on such observations; experimental and measurement-based testing of deductions drawn from the hypotheses; and refinement (or elimination) of the hypotheses based on the experimental findings. These are principles of the scientific method, as distinguished from a definitive series of steps applicable to all scientific enterprises. According to Dictionary.com, hypothesis means: - Hypothesis is a noun that means “a proposition, or set of propositions, set forth as an explanation” that describe “some specified group of phenomena.” Unlike a theory, a scientific hypothesis is made before testing is done and isn’t based on results. Instead, it is the basis for further investigation. According to Dictionary.com, theory can take on several meanings: - As a noun, a theory is a group of tested general propositions “commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena.” - “a body of principles or theorems belonging to one subject.” It can be a branch of science or art that deals with its principles or methods. --- ## My Quest My quest to know Him who is from the beginning ([[KHWIFTB - Know Him Who Is From The Beginning]]) is a form of "science" Compared to God, we are but infants. It is quite arrogant for any of us to think that we fully comprehend God's creation Although we will NEVER fully understand EVERYTHING, I do believe that God actually wants us to pursue Him and pursue understanding His creation. One of the biggest sins mankind has committed is to exclude God in the the attempt to understand His creation. In the context of love, Paul said in [[1_Corinthians_13|1 Corinthians 13.11-12]]: - When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside childish ways. Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
