# Church Assessment - Jesus' Assessment Pattern ## Question: How would you assess your church? --- - In 2017, I did a study on Biblical Assessment and discovered a pattern in Jesus' assessment of the seven churches in **Revelation 2-3**. - For the most part, Jesus followed a similar pattern in each of the letters. Generally, there were six elements to His assessment: - The authority of the assessor - An acknowledgment of some good things - A condemnation of some negative things - A plan of action - A consequence for failing to complete the plan of action - A promise / reward - There were some exceptions. For example, there were two churches with no condemnation and there was one church with nothing good said about it. - Using Jesus' pattern each of the seven churches mentioned in **Revelation 2-3** were analyzed. - [[1628038807_Church_Assessment_Ephesus|Church Assessment - Ephesus]] - [[1628085247_Church_Assessment_Smyrna|Church Assessment - Smyrna]] - [[1628191147_Church_Assessment_Pergamum|Church Assessment Pergamum]] - [[1629835627_Church_Assessment_Thyatira|Church Assessment - Thyatira]] - [[1646429827_Church_Assessment_Sardis|Church Assessment - Sardis]] - [[1646843287_Church_Assessment_Philadelphia|Church Assessment - Philadelphia]] - [[1627151047_Church_Assessment_Laodicea|Church Assessment - Laodicea]] - In 2020, I started doing a Bible study with my friend Opio in Uganda on the book of Revelation. After we finished the seven letters to the seven churches in chapters 2-3, I thought it would be a good exercise for each of us to write a letter to the church in our respective countries. Also, I want to better understand what the Spirit is saying to the church in America. The letter is much longer than the ones Jesus wrote. I attempted to address every possible "sacred cow." However, I am sure I missed a few. - [[Letter_to_the_Church_in_America_(Final)|Letter to the Church in America]] - I look forward to your feedback! ---
