## Worship Training @ Timothy Church --- - Talk about how this study got started - How are [[Heal|healing]] and [[Worship]] connected? - What is worship? - What are the [[Methods]] of worship?  Does **physical position** matter? - What are the connections between “**worship**” and [[Glory|glorifying]] , [[Honor|honoring]], [[Praise|praising]], [[Serve|praising]] God”?  [[Grace|Gratitude]]? - How is **music** used in worship? - Interesting Hebrew and Greek words - The Hebrew word for bow / kneel is “Barak” ([[H1288]]) - 2022.12.22 - Not sure why I talked about "Barak". Although it can have the meaning of "kneeling" a better word for bowing is ṯiš·ta·ḥă·weh ([[H7812]]) which is used in the passage I shared at the training, Deuteronomy 5.8-9. - Despite getting the word wrong, I still think the principle is correct - Various translations seem to mix and match “worship”, “bowing” and “serving” - [[Deuteronomy_05|Deuteronomy 5.8-9]] (NLT) - God wants us to worship Him as [[Creator]], not the [[Creation]] - 8 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. 9 You must not bow down ([[H7812]]) to them or worship ([[H5647]]) them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. - [[Bless]] the Lord and praising the Lord are often interchanged - [[Psalm_103|Psalm 103.1]] - A psalm of David. Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. - Most translations have “praise” for the first occurrence, but ESV, NASB have “blessed” - Most common Greek word for worship is Proskuneo [pros-koo-neh'-o] - It’s origin is from prós, "towards" and kyneo, "to kiss" - (metaphorically) described as "the kissing-ground" between believers (the Bride) and Christ (the heavenly Bridegroom) - BibleTools.org says Kyneo came from another Greek word meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand - Bowing - Every knee will bow - [[Philippians_02|Philippians 2.9-11]] - 9 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. - What about the demon in [[Mark_05|Mark 5.6-8]]? - 6 When the man saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees before Him. 7 And he shouted in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You before God not to torture me.” 8 For Jesus had already declared,“Come out of this man, you unclean spirit!” - Soldiers bow before Jesus Matthew 27.29 - And they twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt down before Him to mock Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” - Our [[Body|bodies]] as worship - Romans 1.25  - Creator vs creation? - What about [[Truth]]? - They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. - [[Romans_01|Romans 12.1]] (command??) - Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. - [[SCRIPTURE/46_1 CORINTHIANS/1_Corinthians_06|1 Corinthians 6.20]] (command??) - you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body. - When Jesus offered His body as a sacrifice, was it worship? - Jesus said they honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me - [[Matthew_15|Matthew 15.7-9]] - 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you: 8 ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. 9 They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’” - Study the section of the lady at the well story where Jesus said we had to worship in spirit and truth.  What does that mean?  [[John_04|John 4.20-24]] - Worship (some form) occurs 10 times in 5 verses - What does it mean to worship in spirit and truth? - 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21 “Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” - Discuss how to train Timothy / new believer to worship --- - These notes came from my study on [[Worship_Study|Worship]]
