# Revelation 11 --- ## The Two Witnesses - 1 Then I was given ([[G1325]]) a measuring rod ([[G2563]]) like a staff ([[G4464]]) and was told, “Go ([[G1453]]) and measure ([[G3354]]) the temple ([[G3485]]) of God ([[G2316]]) and the altar ([[G2379]]), and count the number ([[NIG]]) of worshipers ([[G4352]]) there. 2 But exclude ([[G1544]] + [[G1855]]) the courtyard ([[G0833]]) outside the temple ([[G3485]]). Do not measure ([[G3354]]) it, because it has been given over to the nations ([[G1484]]), and they will trample ([[G3961]]) the holy ([[G0040]]) city ([[G4172]]) for 42 months ([[G3376]]). 3 And I will empower ([[G1325]]) my two witnesses ([[G3144]]), and they will prophesy ([[G4395]]) for 1,260 days ([[G2250]]), clothed ([[G4016]]) in sackcloth ([[G4526]]).” - 4 These witnesses ([[NIG]]) are the two ([[G1417]]) olive trees ([[G1636]]) and the two lampstands ([[G3087]]) that stand ([[G2476]]) before the Lord ([[G2962]]) of the earth. ([[G1093]]) {See [[Zechariah_04|Zechariah 4.14]]} 5 If anyone wants ([[G2309]]) to harm ([[G0091]]) them, fire ([[G4442]]) proceeds ([[G1607]]) from their mouths ([[G4750]]) and devours ([[G2719]]) their enemies ([[G2190]]). In this way, anyone who wants to harm ([[G0091]]) them must ([[G1163]]) be killed ([[G0615]]). 6 These witnesses ([[NIG]]) have power ([[G1849]]) to shut ([[G2808]]) the sky ([[G3772]]) so that no rain ([[G5205]]) will fall ([[G1026]]) during the days ([[G2250]]) of their prophecy ([[G4394]]), and power ([[G1849]]) to turn ([[G4762]]) the waters ([[G5204]]) into blood ([[G0129]]) and to strike ([[G3960]]) the earth ([[G1093]]) with every ([[G3956]]) kind of ([[NIG]]) plague ([[G4127]]) as often ([[G3740]]) as they wish ([[G2309]]). --- ## The Witnesses Killed and Raised - 7 When the two witnesses ([[NIG]]) have finished ([[G5055]]) their testimony ([[G3141]]), the beast ([[G2342]]) that comes up ([[G0305]]) from the Abyss ([[G0012]]) will wage ([[G4160]]) war ([[G4171]]) with them, and will overpower ([[G3528]]) and kill ([[G0615]]) them. 8 Their bodies ([[G4430]]) will lie ([[G1909]]) in the street ([[G4113]]) of the great ([[G3173]]) city ([[G4172]]) — figuratively ([[G4153]]) called Sodom ([[G4670]]) and Egypt ([[G0125]]) — where their Lord ([[G2962]]) was also crucified ([[G4717]]). - 9 - (BSB) For three and a half days all peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will view their bodies and will not permit them to be laid in a tomb. - (BLB) And _those_ of ([[G1537]]) the peoples ([[G2992]]) and tribes ([[G5443]]) and tongues ([[G1100]]) and nations ([[G1484]]) gaze ([[G0991]]) upon their bodies ([[G4430]]) three ([[G5140]]) and a half ([[G2255]]) days ([[G2250]]), and they will not allow ([[G0863]]) their bodies ([[G4430]]) to be put ([[G5087]]) into a tomb ([[G3418]]). - 10 - (BSB) And those who dwell on the earth will gloat over them, and will celebrate and send one another gifts, because these two prophets had tormented them. - (BLB) And those ([[G3588]]) dwelling ([[G2730]]) on ([[G1909]]) the earth ([[G1093]]) rejoice ([[G5463]]) over ([[G1909]]) them ([[G0846]]) and make merry ([[G2165]]), and will send ([[G3992]]) gifts ([[G1435]]) to one another ([[G0240]]), because ([[G3754]]) these ([[G3778]]) two ([[G1417]]) prophets ([[G4396]]) have tormented ([[G0928]]) those ([[G3588]]) dwelling ([[G2730]]) upon ([[G1909]]) the ([[G3588]]) earth ([[G1093]]). - 11 But after ([[G3326]]) the three ([[G5140]]) and a half ([[G2255]]) days ([[G2250]]), the breath ([[G4151]]) of life ([[G2222]]) from God ([[G2316]]) entered ([[G1525]]) the two witnesses ([[NIG]]), and they stood ([[G2476]]) on their feet ([[G4228]]), and great ([[G3173]]) fear ([[G5401]]) fell ([[G1968]]) upon those who saw ([[G2334]]) them. 12 And the witnesses ([[NIG]]) heard ([[G0191]]) a loud ([[G3173]]) voice ([[G5456]]) from heaven ([[G3772]]) saying ([[G3004]]), “Come up ([[G0305]]) here ([[G5602]]).” And they went ([[G0305]]) up to heaven ([[G3772]]) in a cloud ([[G3507]]) as their enemies ([[G2190]]) watched ([[G2334]]) them. - 13 And in that hour ([[G5610]]) there was a great ([[G3173]]) earthquake ([[G4578]]), and a tenth ([[G1182]]) of the city ([[G4172]]) collapsed ([[G4098]]). Seven ([[G2033]]) thousand ([[G5505]]) {names ([[G3686]]) of men ([[G0444]])} were killed ([[G0615]]) in the quake ([[G4578]]), and the rest ([[G3062]]) were [[Fear|terrified]] ([[G1719]]) and gave ([[G1325]]) glory ([[G1391]]) to the God ([[G2316]]) of heaven ([[G3772]]). - 14 The second ([[G1208]]) woe ([[G3759]]) has passed ([[G0565]]). Behold ([[G3708]]), the third ([[G5154]]) woe ([[G3759]]) is coming ([[G2064]]) shortly ([[G5035]]). --- ## The Seventh Trumpet - 15 Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: - “The kingdom of the world - has become the kingdom of our Lord - and of His Christ, - and He will reign forever and ever.” - 16 And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: - “We give thanks to You, O Lord God Almighty, - the One who is and who was, {TR includes: "and who is to come"} - because You have taken Your great power - and have begun to reign. - 18 The nations were enraged, {See [[Psalm_002|Psalm 2.1]]} - and Your wrath has come. - The time has come to judge the dead {[[See Daniel_12|Daniel 12.2]]} - and to reward Your servants the prophets, - as well as the saints and those who fear Your name, - both small and great— - and to destroy those who destroy the earth.” - 19 Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple.
