# Sets of Three ## Background - Inspired by a comment from Brent during our morning Bible studies on our family camping trip. ## Questions - What sets of three does John use in these verses? ## Notes ### Revelation 1 #### 2026.03.12 - John seems to like sets of three in his writings, at least in the first eight verses of this chapter. It will be interesting to see if this style continues throughout the rest of the book. - Listed below are the sets of three I see. There may be more that I missed - Verse 3 - Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy - Blessed are those who hear and obey what is written in it - The time is near - Verse 4 - Grace and peace to you from Him who: - is - was - is to come - Verse 4-5 - Him who is and was and is to come - seven spirits before His throne - Jesus Christ - Verse 5 - the faithful witness - the firstborn from the dead - the ruler of the kings of the earth - Verse 5-6 - To Him who: - loves us - released us from our sins by His blood - made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father - Verse 7 - He is coming with the clouds - every eye will see Him - even those who pierced Him - Verse 8 - Alpha - Omega - the Almighty - Verse 8 - who is - and was - and is to come
