# Mark 10 Notes --- ## BibleHub Link - https://biblehub.com/bsb/mark/10.htm ## Outline - ## Verse Cross Reference ## ToDo ## Notes --- #### 2015.05.25 {13-16} ##### Notes - Jesus said we have to “receive” the kingdom of God like a child. It is a gift. There is nothing a child can do to “earn” it. They may hope and “expect” it and even feel that they “deserve” it, but they don’t even imagine that they have the resources available to get it. Some people interpret the “children” as “innocent”. However, I know from personal experience that children are anything but innocent. I think Jesus is using children as an illustration of someone who has no means of earning salvation. - My viewpoint is further developed in the next story about the Rich Young Ruler. ##### Links ###### Scripture ###### Other Notes ###### Strong's Words ###### Studies - [[Kingdom_Study]] ###### Topics ### Mark 10.17-31 #### 2015.05.25 - After Jesus clears up who He is (good God), He essentially tells the rich man that there is absolutely no way he can inherit eternal life. - One thing to note, in the story above, Jesus talks about “receiving” the Kingdom. In this story, the rich dude asks about “inheriting” eternal life (**Mark 10.17**). An inheritance is something that is passed from parent to child in accordance with established laws. Unless the child does something to lose his inheritance, such as Esau or Ruben, then it is automatic. On the other hand, a gift isn’t automatic and has nothing to do with the receiver. It is something that the giver chooses to give regardless of what the receiver does or does not do. - Another interesting observation - in **Mark 10.14, 15, 23, 24 & 25**, Jesus is talking about receiving or entering the Kingdom of God. In **Mark 10.17**, the rich dude was asking about eternal life. The rich guy’s point of view was himself. He wanted eternal life. On the other hand, Jesus’ point of view was His Kingdom. - A paraphrase of **Mark 10.29-30** is: Pursue My Kingdom and you will get lots of stuff including eternal life. - It is all about Jesus and His Kingdom!! #### 2012.02.11 - This is different wording than the Matthew **Matthew 19.16-30** passage. The Luke **Luke 18.18-30** passage is the same as this one. #### 2011.05.07 {17-31} - In **Mark 10.21**, Jesus told the rich man to, "sell whatever you have and give the money to the poor". - Most of us think about houses, boats, cars, TVs, and etc. when this verse is discussed. However, Jesus told him to sell "whatever" he had. That included his textile clothing. Jesus didn't say to sell everything except one article of clothing. He said everything. #### Links ##### Scripture Notes ##### Strong's Words ##### Studies - [[Clothing-in-the-Bible_Study]] - [[Kingdom_Study]] - [[NAU_Study]] ##### Topics - [[Clothing_Textile_People]] ### Mark 10.50 #### 2011.10.02 - Why is the phrase, " he threw aside his cloak" in this story? ##### Scripture Notes ##### Strong's Words ##### Studies - [[Clothing-in-the-Bible_Study]] - [[NAU_Study]] ##### Topics - [[Clothing_Textile_People]] --- --- ## Note Format ``` #### Date ##### Note Context ##### Notes ##### Links ###### Scripture Notes ###### Strong's Words ###### Studies ###### Topics ``` ---
