# J-1991.01.15-Desert Storm
1991.01.15
- This is the first entry in what I hope is a short diary. I plan on recording my thoughts and actions during the IRAQ crisis.
- Today, I spent almost all day in CVIC planning a strike into Shibaah Airfield. When ever I have done planning in the past, it has always been make believe. Now it is very serious and any mistakes that we make could have dramatic consequences.
- When I wasn't planning, I worked on getting ready for combat. Our pistols were brought down to the ready room today for the first time. Initially I didn't think my gun would fit into my SV-2 and I would need a holster. However, after some work, we figured out a way to make it happen.
- This evening {[[Name_Key#^nk-27| M ]]} and I were tasked with the Alert 30. I was way behind and still am. I spent a lot of time getting ready for the alert and then it was canceled. As a part of getting ready, I got my gun out of the cruise box and loaded up two clips. I decided to leave the clips loaded because it took so long to get the ammo out and loaded.
- I pretty much have my op area chart ready. There are still some things I want to add and I still need to get all the kneeboard cards put in the new checklist binder.
- Tomorrow, {[[Name_Key#^nk-28| M ]]} and I are scheduled for a SUCAP spare that briefs at 0530. It looks like we are going to be the night carrier. However, tomorrow all of the flights are in the day. It doesn't seem to make any sense. I am staying up late to get my body used to being up at night. I plan on going back to bed after the SUCAP.
