# Grace to Be Holy
## Background
---
- I have been thinking about the commands in the Bible to "be holy" and "sin no more."
- Be Holy
- For I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be Holy, because I am Holy. You must not defile yourselves by any creature that crawls along the ground. For I am the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt so that I would be your God; therefore be Holy, because I am Holy. {Leviticus 11.44-45 (BSB)}
- Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the whole congregation of Israel and tell them: Be Holy because I, the LORD your God, am Holy. {Leviticus 19.1-2 (BSB)}
- Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be Holy, because I am the LORD your God. And you shall keep My statutes and practice them. I am the LORD who sanctifies you. {Leviticus 20.7-8 (BSB)}
- You are therefore to distinguish between clean and unclean animals and birds. Do not become contaminated by any animal or bird, or by anything that crawls on the ground; I have set these apart as unclean for you. You are to be Holy to Me because I, the LORD, am Holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be My own. {Leviticus 20.25-26 (BSB)}
- A priest must not marry a woman defiled by prostitution or divorced by her husband, for the priest is Holy to his God. You are to regard him as holy, since he presents the food of your God. He shall be Holy to you, because I the LORD am Holy— I who set you apart. If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by prostituting herself, she profanes her father; she must be burned in the fire. {Leviticus 21.7-9 (BSB)}
- Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober-minded. Set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” {1 Peter 1.13-16 (BSB)}

- I started this note with one thought in mind. It is impossible for me to be holy on my own power! However, it is quite possible with God's power. The ONLY way for me to be holy and not sin is to fully abide in God / Jesus.
- I need His Grace which only He can give
- I know from experience that when He puts a "hedge of protection" around me, I can avoid sinning. However, when He pulls it away, I ALWAYS fall back into sin!
- Perhaps, maybe, there is something that "I" can do. However, even this, I doubt I can do without His grace. This one thing is to keep my eyes on Him. It is kinda like when Peter was walking on water. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he was fine. As soon as he looked at the wind and the waves, he got wet. But to restate again, I doubt Peter or me could / can keep our eyes on God / Jesus without His grace.
