I think I meant to say that (G5485) is translated "thanks" in this verse. (25) 2017.10.26 - What is interesting, (G5485) usually refers to “the” grace that God gave us. However. In this verse, Paul is thanking God for that grace. [15] - Since Paul quoted this verse, but used a different word, it is possible Compassion and Grace are nearly the same. [15] - God's mercy and compassion don't depend on man’s desire or effort. They are truly a gift from God. [0] - In this context, Paul makes the oft quoted statement, "God loves a cheerful giver" [7] - After the cheerful giver statement, Paul then shifts things to God. Paul says that God is "able" (G1414) to make "all (G3956) grace" (G5485) "abound" (G4052) so that … you will "abound" (G4052) in every "good" (G0018) "work" (G2041). [8] - The Helps Word-studies for "able" (G1414) says this verb means to "exert overwhelming unstoppable power".  So, when Paul says that God is "able" to make all grace abound, he isn't kidding!  An "overwhelming unstoppable power" can make all grace abound … ! - After saying that God has this incredible power to make grace abound, he says that it is "all" (G3956) grace abound.  "Pas" means "all, the whole, every kind of" - "Abound" -- "perisseuó" (G4052) means to exceed the ordinary (the necessary) #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[2_Corinthians_09]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - Verses - 8, 15 - Words - [[G0018]] - [[G1414]] - [[G2041]] - [[G3956]] - [[G4052]] - [[G5485]] - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other --- ![[1507241177_Grace_2_Cor_12]] --- ### 2 Corinthians 13 Date - grace (G5485) #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[2_Corinthians_13]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - Verses - 14 - Words - [[G5485]] - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other - --- ### Galatians 1 2017.10.31 - Paul’s typical greeting of grace (G5485) #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[Galatians_01]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - Verses - 3 - Words - [[G5485]] - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other - --- ### Galatians 2 Date - (21) #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[Galatians_02]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - Verses - 21 - Words - - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other - --- ### Galatians 5 Date - Fallen away from grace (G5485) (4) #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[Galatians_05]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - Verses - 4 - Words - [[G5485]] - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other - --- ### Galatians 6 Date - Mercy (G1656) #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[Galatians_06]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - Verses - 16-18 - Words - [[G1656]] - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other - --- ### Ephesians 1 2017.10.26 - Paul’s typical greeting of grace (G5485) (2) - Paul praised God's glorious grace (G5485) which He (God) freely gave us in Jesus (6) - In Jesus, according to the riches of His grace (G5485), we have: - Redemption through His blood [7] - Forgiveness of our trespasses [7] - He lavished on us His grace (G5485) according to all wisdom and understanding [7-8] #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[Ephesians_01]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - Verses - 2 - Words - [[G5485]] - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other - --- ### Ephesians 2 2017.10.05 - It is because of God's love us that He gave us grace (G5485) (4-5) - God is rich in mercy (G1656) (4) - We are saved by grace (G5485) through faith (8) #### Outbound Links - Scripture - [[Ephesians_02]] - Topics - [[Grace]] - [[Mercy]] - Verses - 4-5, 8 - Words - [[G1656]] - [[G5485]] - Study - [[Grace_Study]] - Other - --- ### Ephesians 3 Date - ?? (15) • What is the connection between “fall short of the grace of God” and a “root of bitterness”? (15) 2020.03.01 - Context--After the chapter (Hebrews 11) listing those who demonstrated great faith, the writer talks about: - call to endurance [1-3] - A discussion on God's discipline of His sons [4-13] - A call to holiness [14-17] - And finally, an unshakeable kingdom [18-29] - In this last section the writer admonishes us to not refuse Him who speaks [25] - The writer sums up things in **verses 28-29** saying, "Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us be filled with gratitude, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. 'For our God is a consuming fire.'" [28-29] - There are various translations for "filled with gratitude". Except for the KJV, BLB, HCSB and the WEB, all the other translations have to do with showing gratitude toward God. I don't know which one is the most accurate. I tend to think that the BLB does a good job of doing an accurate literal translation. Certainly, it is important to give thanks to God. The "therefore" at the beginning of the sentence would fit that meaning. On the other hand, holding on to grace certainly gives us more power. [28] - Let us be thankful--NIV, NLT, CSB - Let us be grateful--ESV - Let us be filled with gratitude--BSB - We may have grace--BLB - Let us show gratitude--NASB - Let us have grace--KJV, WEB - Let us hold on to grace--HCSB - Let us give thanks--NET - The writer made some incredible statements: [28] - We are receiving an unshakeable kingdom - Let us be filled with gratitude / hold on to grace - Worship God - Acceptably - With reverence - And awe - Some of the key words in the writer's statements - Receiving (G3880); to take (receive) by showing strong personal initiative - Unshakeable (G0761); the only other occurrence is **Acts 27.41** when their ship ran aground and was immovable - Kingdom (G0932) - Gratitude / grace (G5485) - Worship / serve (G3000); to serve is probably a better definition - Acceptably (G2102); only occurrence; well pleasing - Reverence (G2124); only other occurrence is **Hebrews 5.7**; reverent caution - Awe (G1169); four occurrences; the other three are contextually negative connotations of fear - I don't understand the writers use of "deilos" (G1169) in this context.
