# The Gospel & the Kingdom ## Notes 2014.02.07 - I have a theory that the [[Gospel]] is really/mostly about the [[Kingdom]]. When I met with {[[Name_Key#^nk-51|M]]}, I asked him what Jesus said the gospel was about. He said [[Love]]. - I did a simple word search using the NET Study Environment on the words "kingdom" and "love" and compared them by book. At this point, I didn't look at how those words were used in context. | Book | Kingdom | Love | Fear | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | **Matthew** | 67 | 22 | 19 | | **Mark** | 27 | 9 | 14 | | **Luke** | 56 | 20 | 30 | | **John** | 3 | 46 | 9 | | **TOTAL** | 153 | 97 | 72 | - Again, the table above doesn't look at context, so any conclusions from the table alone are just speculative. However, here are a few observations: - Matthew and Luke talk a lot about the kingdom and Mark gives it decent coverage. However, it isn't really a topic for John. - As expected, John is the book about love. - In terms of total word count in the four gospels, kingdom occurs 153 times and love occurs 97 times. The word kingdom occurs 1.58 times as many times as love in the four gospels. - I need to look at the actual Greek words used for kingdom and love and see if they are the same or different. I also need to look at the usage and context to see what the author was communicating by using those words. 2014.02.13 - Talked with {[[Name_Key#^nk-52|M]]} today about this table.  Before I showed it to him I asked him what he thought was the main topic in the four gospels.  He said [[Fear]].  So, I added that word to the table above. - As can be observed, "fear" comes in third among these three words
