- Compare with [[Summary_God_H0410_Study]]
- 2025.02.25
- This approach to do my studies is relatively new. This method focuses (where appropriate) on using scripture to define significant key words.
- This particular word was chosen while working on the [[Know_the_Trinity_Study]]
## Questions
- What is the Biblical definition of G2316?
- To which person of the Trinity does G2316 refer?

## Chapter-by-Chapter Notes
### Matthew 1
2025.02.26 {23}
- Since Jesus is called "Immanuel" which means "God with us" it would seem this occurrence of "God" refers to Jesus
### Matthew 3
2025.02.26
- John said that "God" could raise up children for Abraham from stones. Based on the context, it isn't clear to whom "God" refers {9}
- Assuming: {16-17}
- the "Spirit of God" = the Holy Spirit
- the "voice from heaven" = the Father
- Then:
- All three persons of the Trinity were present when Jesus went up out of the water
- The voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”
- It would seem that the voice (Father) considered Himself superior to the other entity (My beloved Son)
- There was a Father-Son relationship / hierarchy established
- The Father assessed the Son also indicating a hierarchy
### Matthew 4
2025.02.26 {1-11}
- Not sure the best place to put this note, but didn't want to lose it
- In the first two temptations, Satan taunted both Jesus and His Father with the phrase, "If you are the Son of God."
- However, in the third temptation, where Satan directly requested that Jesus "fall down and worship me (Satan)", he conveniently left out any reference to "God"
- WRT this study, I believe all five occurrences refer to the Father {3, 4, 6, 7, 10}
### Matthew 5
2025.02.26
- Random thoughts
- Jesus said the pure in heart will "see God". Elsewhere, scripture says God is Spirit and we need to worship Him in spirit. So, either

- Can "God" lead into temptation "God?" {12-13}
- If Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is God, then God directed God to led God into the wilderness to be tempted
- On the other hand, if all three are unique entities, then "the Spirit," presumably acting on the Father's behalf, drove God's Son into the wilderness to be tempted.
### Mark 2
{26}
2025.03.09 {7, 12}
- Some say that Mark was using some sort of sideways logic in verse 7 to prove Jesus should use the moniker "God." {5-7}
- However, the way I see it, there are several reasons to dismiss their claim:
- Jesus called Himself the Son of Man {10}
- Although the scribes asked themselves a question about who has the authority to forgive sins, there is no proof that God alone can do so. In particular, in John 20.21-23 Jesus gave the disciples the authority to forgive sins. {John 20.21-23}
- Jesus criticized the scribes for thinking such in their hearts {8-9}

### Luke 1 {19, 35, 37}
2025.12.12
- According to Luke, Gabriel told Mary that her first born, Jesus "will be called" ([[G2564]]) the Son of God
- Over the last few years, I have made several attempts to characterize / categorize what I see in scripture about the names of Jesus. I don't recall ever noticing these words of Gabriel.
- One would think that if we are to refer to Jesus as "God," then Gabriel would have communicated that "fact!" This is especially true based on two other statements by Gabriel
- In this section, Gabriel finished his exchange with Mary with this statement, "For no word from God will ever fail." {37}
- Earlier, in the exchange between Gabriel and Zechariah, Gabriel responded to Zechariah with this terse statement, “I am Gabriel,” replied the angel. “I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news." {19}
- Why would Gabriel say something to Mary that isn't fully true?
- To be clear, Gabriel did in fact refer to Jesus as "the Holy One!" So, Jesus IS divine with all the characteristics and attributes of His Father; as well as an additional feature, His human flesh.
- As I have stated in other notes, this observation isn't just an academic debate over how many angels can dance on a pin head. This is all about JESUS!
- For one thing, if you love someone, why would you refer to them by someone else's name?
- Although it is common in the Bible to refer to a son as, "Jesus the Son of God" or "Jesus the son of Joseph" according to Grok, there is no evidence that people referred to sons by their father's name. For example, it was not common to refer to Jesus as "Joseph." According to Grok, this would have been disrespectful of Joseph. So, if Grok is correct about the culture in biblical times, then it would be disrespectful to refer to Jesus by His Father's name, "God!"
- So, when people refer to Jesus as "God" they are disrespecting both Jesus and His Father!
- [[777]] - Please explain all this and make it clear
### John 6
2025.11.21 {45}
- At first glance and taken out of context, it could be concluded that in the first half of verse 45 Jesus just called himself, "God."
- However, in the second half of this same verse (verse 45) Jesus goes on to refer to "the Father,"
- Everyone who has heard the Father
- Everyone who has learned from the Father
- Based on the context, it seems clear to me that "God" refers to **the Father**
### 1 Corinthians 8
2026.01.01 {6}
- Paul said it plainly
- Only ONE God, the Father
- Only one Lord, Jesus
### 2 Peter 1
