# Election, Predestination & Freewill ## Luke 13 2024.01.20 - In **verses 24-25** Jesus made some statements that could support the idea of free will, but also could be used to support the idea of election / predestination - Observations - Jesus commanded His listeners (and us) to make every effort to enter through the narrow door - He also said that many will try but not able to enter - The reason He gave for not being able to enter was that the master did not know where they are from - Thoughts - The words "make every effort" and "many will try" imply human effort is key to getting into heaven - However, Jesus makes it clear the criteria is the master knowing the seeker and in particular where the seeker is from - Conclusions - Despite human effort, it is exclusively the "master's" / "Jesus'" choice - I think these verses provide clear support for election / predestination
