# Be Ready - Wednesday, 2026.01.07 ## Part 2 - Word became flesh ## Context See [[260106_p]] ## Observations See [[260106_p]] ## Questions - What does "The Word became flesh" mean? ## Interpretations - Based on John 1.1-3, it is assumed the Word is Jesus. So, a paraphrase of verse 14a is, "Jesus became flesh ..." - What does it mean that Jesus became flesh? - What was Jesus state before being born through Mary? - Was He a disembodied spirit like Father? If so, what about all the Christophanies in the OT? - Did Jesus have a human body, even before being born? If so, was He the model from which all mankind was made? Compare with [[OT_Image_of_God]] {Genesis 1.26-27} - Was it a glorified body like He has after the Resurrection? - For that matter, what does it mean that Jesus was with God in the beginning? So, was there a "before the beginning?" If so, when was that? How does [[The_Omnitemporality_of_God]] affect the answers to these questions? - The answers to my questions above probably don't change anyone's view of salvation, so one could argue what's the point in pondering them. From one point of view, I agree. As my friend Chuck likes to say, some interpretations are written in blood, some in ink and some in pencil. On the other hand, although the answers should probably be written in pencil, I believe God enjoys His creation pursuing Him. In the sermon on the mount, Jesus challenged us to "Ask, Seek & Knock." {Matthew 7.7-11} - Furthermore, I am convinced God wants me to "know Him who is from the beginning." I don't know any other way of knowing Him without spending time asking Him questions and listening to His answers. {1 John 2.13-14} - Notwithstanding all the above, I don't have the answers to those questions and many more like it! - [[777]] - Lord, please speak to me and show me what I need to know to know You! ## Application - Continue to pursue knowing God by asking, seeking and knocking and encouraging others to do so as well. ## Correction As always, I am open to scripture-based correction.
