# Be Ready - Friday, 2025.12.05
Starting today through the end of the year, we will be focusing on the birth of Jesus, our Lord and our savior.
Matthew detailed Jesus' genealogy from Abraham to Joseph in Matthew 1.1-17. Luke did a similar family tree but starting from Adam and recorded in Luke 3.23-38.
Jesus has some characters in his family tree with "interesting" stories. Here's a small sampling:
- Adam; the first man ever. Only had ONE rule to follow but failed (as we all would have done!)
- Enoch; didn't die, but was transported directly to heaven
- Methuselah; the oldest man to ever live, 969 years
- Noah, ship Captain
- Abraham; became impatient with God and fathered the Muslims via Ishmael
- Jacob; a deceiver & usurper
- Judah; had relations with his daughter-in-law
- Ruth; a woman of noble character
- David; a man after God's own heart; had an affair with Bathsheba, a married woman; then killer her husband in a cover-up attempt
- Solomon; the richest, wisest man to ever live whose heart was torn in a 1000 different directions, most of which didn't include God
- Rehoboam; a foolish young king
- Hezekiah; asked God to make the sun go backwards and it did
- Josiah; the youngest king to rule ancient Israel; began ruling at age eight
- Joseph; married to Mary, but not the father of Jesus
What does your family tree look like??
