# Clothing and Treachery ## Notes 2013.05.10 - I came across the Hebrew word, "beged" ([[H0899]]) while reading **Genesis 39.12**. - Of 217 occurrence in the NET, all but two of them are translated as some form or clothing. The other two are blankets and saddlecloths. The latter two are again some type of fabric. - What I found interesting, is that the first definition of the word is "treachery, deceit". - Although the NET never translates "beged" as treachery or deceit, the first definition is such. - There has to be some sort of significance to this observation. I have always felt that clothing was connected to deceit. It is involved in hiding who we really are from the sight of those around us.
