## Notes
- In **Jeremiah 23.16**, God rails against the false prophets saying they speak of visions from their own minds not from the mouth of God. Then in **verse 18** He asks a rhetorical question, "But which of them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and hear His word?" In **verse 22**, God answers His previous question, "But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and turned them back from their evil ways and deeds." {Jeremiah 23.16, 18 & 22}
- What did it look like in Jeremiah's day to "stand in God's council?"
- Before the era of Jesus's public ministry, God spoke through His prophets. However, now we have The Word. On one hand, Jesus IS the Word. On the other-hand, most people refer to the Bible as The Word. {Hebrews 1.1-2; John 1.1 & 14}
- According to 2 Timothy 3.16 & 2 Peter 1.21, the Scriptures we have today were given by the Holy Spirit. {2 Timothy 3.16 & 2 Peter 1.21}
- What does it look like today to "stand in God's council?"
- The "Word" we have today came from God via the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, Jesus IS the "Word." So, the whole Trinity is represented in the "Word."
- I can't imagine a better way to "stand in God's council" than to be fully immersed in His Word, the Bible!
- I use the term "Bible-Times" to refer to the age we live in now with ready access to good quality scripture. There are literally dozens and dozens of translations in many different languages. There are also excellent free tools to analyze and compare the various translations using the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.
