## What does it take to be God?
### Observations
I assume there are countless books and papers written describing the attributes / characteristics an entity must have in order to be deity. According to Grok (although my [[Gary's_Hermeneutics|hermeneutics]] are mostly nuda scriptura, I confess I have been using Grok for some research) there are seven must-have attributes without which "you-ain't-God!"
Eternal
- God must exist without beginning or end
- I believe God preexisted creation as we know it. Furthermore, I believe He created time in Genesis 1 and time will cease to exist when we get to the New Jerusalem {Revelation 22.4}
- God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” {Exodus 3.14 (BSB)}
Omnipotence
- All powerful
- A couple of examples include: creating the universe and raising Jesus from the dead {Genesis 1, 1 Corinthians 6.14 }
Omniscience
- All knowing
- Complete knowledge of all things— past, present, future
- Kinda like how Santa knows if you've been naughty or nice ... NOT!
Omnipresence
- Everywhere Present
- Existing fully present everywhere at the same time
- Sorta like how Santa deliveries all those presents all over the world in one night ... again NOT!
Omnibenevolence
- All-Good or Perfectly Moral
- Only God is good {Mark 10.18}
Immutability
- Unchanging
- God does not change {Malachi 3.16, Hebrews 13.8}
Personality and Relational Capacity
- God is a thinking, willing, emotional being capable of relationships, communication, and intervention
### Interpretation
I believe "Creator of the Universe" should be added to the list above. Failure to acknowledge God as the creator tempts us to put ourselves in that role which leads to all sorts of evil such as the big-covid-lie, the climate-change-hoax, gender-confusion, and sexual-orientation-confusion. {Romans 1.18-32}
It could be argued that the creator of the universe doesn't have to have all the attributes listed above. For example, the creator could an ever changing evil god. Thankfully, our God does indeed have all those listed!
### Application
Continue to seek and to know the creator of everything {1 John 2.13-14}
### Correction
Reply to this post if there are mistakes in my theology, I'm open to correction ... but ONLY using scripture!
