# Be Ready - Wednesday, 2025.12.03 ## For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Although most translations from the Greek don't include this doxology to the Lord's Prayer, many from the Aramaic do. Regardless of whether it should or should not be included, if the "Yours" refers to God, then it is consistent with the rest of scripture. For that matter, it is either a great praise or great worship statement. Since "praise" is speaking or singing to God about His actions, qualities and characteristics. A paraphrased version: Father, You are the all powerful king over Your kingdom and You deserve all glory! On the other-hand, worship is a position. In the Old Testament, worship was all about physically bowing, kneeling, kissing the hand, feet or ground of the entity being worshiped. In the New Testament, worship is still about position. However, instead of bowing to the ground we are to "bow our hearts". Humility is the key to proper worship in the NT. It is easy to see the possibilities of praise in this passage. However, it is much harder to see the worship aspects. This is because it is all about the heart attitude of the "worshiper", not the words or music. Many people would consider this amp'd-up slang version of the doxology to be heresy or sacrilegious: "Yo bruh, you straight slappin' wit dat kingdom, power, n glory fo'eva, no cap. Amen." I contend, the Biblical standard for worship isn't whether it is the 1610 King James version or the Grok version, but rather the person's heart attitude. Prove me wrong ... using only scripture! ## Disciple's Prayer, Doxology & Epilogue So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours. {Matthew 6.9-15 (BSB)}
