## 16 - Earth
Father,
What did Jesus mean when He told us to pray that Your will be done on "earth?" To what "earth" was He referring:
- the third rock from the sun?
- ancient classical elements: earth, water, air and fire?
- the band, "Earth, Wind & Fire?"
- the earth's climate systems?
- the dirt in the earth?
- "us," the people on the earth?
What do these passages in Your Word mean:
- For behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for I will create Jerusalem to be a joy and its people to be a delight. I will rejoice in Jerusalem and take delight in My people. The sounds of weeping and crying will no longer be heard in her. {Isaiah 65.17-19 (BSB)}
- Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the Day of the LORD’s wrath. The whole earth will be consumed by the fire of His jealousy.” For indeed, He will make a sudden end of all who dwell on the earth. {Zephaniah 1.18 (BSB)}
- Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome Day of the LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Otherwise, I will come and strike the land with a curse.” {Malachi 4.5-6 (BSB)}
- But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare. {2 Peter 3.10 (BSB)}
- But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3.13 (BSB))
- Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. {Revelation 21.1-2 (BSB)}
### Passage
So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
{Matthew 6.9-13 (BSB)}
