# Thoughts on the Kingdom of Heaven ## Notes - Context - Speaker - John the Baptist - Audience - People from Jerusalem, as well as all Judea and all the region around the Jordan - Message - Repent, the kingdom is near - In [[Matthew_03|Matthew 3.2]], [[John_the_Baptist]] John the Baptist is speaking and telling the Israelites to repent, because the [[Kingdom]] ([[G0932]]) of [[Heaven]] is near.  I don't know if John was speaking [[Temporal|temporally]] or [[Spacial|spatially]] or both. Based on the context, Jesus was about to start His public ministry.  Also, it is very possible that Jesus was physically nearby.  What exactly is the "kingdom of heaven"?  We are often taught that heaven is some distant ethereal place.  However, John said it was near. - Compare with my [[1394908114_Study_on_Repentance|Repentance Study]], [[Kingdom_Study]] and [[Matthew 4.17|my notes on Matthew 4.17]]
