- Despite the "[[Desire|cravings]] which incite to [[Sin]]", the [[Body]] is not [[Evil]]. The [[Soul]] has the responsibility to decide to listen to the cravings or the spirit. When choosing the spirit it doesn't mean we have to reject the body as bad. It does mean the "cravings" must be satisfied within the guidelines God established. Cravings are not bad. One key craving is breathing air. If we refuse to "give-in" to that craving, then we will die in a matter of seconds.
- At the time Jesus spoke these words in [[Matthew_26|Matthew 26.41]], He had not [[Die|died]] and [[Resurrection|risen]]. Based on other passages, it is reasonable to assume they had not received the [[Holy Spirit ]]yet. A key question, were their "[[Spirit|spirits]]" [[Life|alive]] yet? When Jesus said, "the spirit is willing", was he referring to a dead spirit or an alive one? My guess is an alive one. If this is the case, then Jesus' statement applies to us as well as the [[Disciple|disciples]], with the exception that they probably didn't have the HS yet.
- Jesus said that they should [[Pray]] so they didn't fall into [[Temptation]]. This would seem to be the model we should follow to help us in the wrestling match between our spirit and our body / flesh.
