# Ephesians 4.20-30
## Background
- Multiple notes on [[Ephesians_04|Ephesians 4]] in the old format
- The timestamp chosen for this note reflects the earliest date
## Notes
---
- Ephesians 4.22
- 2016.04.10
- Many of the translations say something like “put off” or “lay aside” or “throw off” or “took off”.
- The Greek word is: [[G0659]]. Apotithémi. It occurs 9 times. Only one of them refers to any type of [[Clothing_Textile_People|clothing]], [[Acts_07|Acts 7.58]] where they laid their robes at Saul’s feet. See my note on [[y_STUFF_TO_PROCESS/NOTES_TO_PROCESS/MORE_NOTES/2011/2011.05.07.1731_Heb_12.1|Hebrews 12.1]] for a possible reference to clothing.
---
- Ephesians 4.23
- 2011.03.15
- This is another reference to [[Renew_Mind|renewing our minds]]. See also [[Romans_12|Romans 12:2]].
---
- Ephesians 4.24
- 2015.11.02
- This seems like a difficult passage to translate.
- kata ([[G2596]]) is a preposition meaning “according to”
---
- Ephesians 4.30
- 2011.03.13
- A motivation for me to avoid [[Sin]] is it avoid grieving the [[Holy Spirit]].
