# God Controls Evil 2008.08.25 - It is clear in scripture that God is in control of His creation. - I think He allows Satan to interact in our lives as a means to cause us to grow. For whatever reason, we don’t seem to grow unless we are challenged. - I have no idea how evil was created. But now that it is here, there are enough passages in scripture to get an understanding of how God controls it for His purposes which include demonstrating His character, receiving glory and praise and demonstrating His love toward us. - A while back, I wrote about an analogy to show God’s control of Satan. It was based on **Proverbs 21.1** that talked about God directing water anywhere He wants like we can with our hands. In my analogy, Satan is like a nuclear reactor. He turns matter into evil energy. But God has him in His hands and completely controls the reaction. If it was for God’s control, Satan would have explosive power. This is a reasonable picture of Hell. My guess is that Hell will be a place that is completely contained, but God will allow Satan loose within the boundaries He established. The Lake of Fire will be created and maintained by Satan himself. He is unable to do anything positive with his abilities.
